Big recall news today for everyone’s favorite travel system. Britax is recalling both its B-Ready strollers and B-Safe 35/B-Safe 35 Elite infant car seats and travel systems.
About 49,000 B-Ready strollers are affected in the US, along with separately-sold stroller replacement top seats. The foam padding on the stroller’s arm bar can come off in fragments if the child bites it, posing a choking hazard. Britax has received 117 reports of children biting the padding, five of which involved choking or gagging.
The following model numbers, which are printed on a label at the bottom of the stroller frame, are affected:
B-Ready Stroller:
U281767, U281768, U281771, U281772, U281773, U281774, U281784, U281792, U281793, U281794, U281795, U281796, U281797
B-Ready replacement top seats:
S845600, S845700, S845800, S845900, S855000, S855100, S856600, S870200, S870300, S870600
These models were manufactured between 2010 and 2012, so if you recently purchased a Britax stroller, you’re likely in the clear. If you do have one of these models, remove the arm bar and contact Britax at Britax.Recall@britax.com for a free zippered arm bar cover. In the meantime, you can still use the stroller without the arm bar attached.
Additionally, about 71,000 infant car seats are being recalled after 74 reports of handles cracking or breaking while in use, posing an obvious fall hazard. This recall affects more recent models manufactured in 2014 and 2015. Look for these model numbers, printed on the back of the car seat or carrier:

Parents should stop carrying the car seat until they’ve received a handle repair kit, which will be sent automatically if the product has been registered. (Check out www.bsafe35recall.com to verify your registration or request a repair kit if you never registered the seat.) In the meantime, you can continue to use the car seat or travel system if it’s installed in a vehicle or on a stroller.
